REHOBOTH, MA - Bristol and Norfolk state senate candidate Jacob Ventura disapproves of the state legislature’s inaction to vote on the legislation Governor Charles D. Baker filed last week (H 3871) that declares a sales tax holiday for purchases under $2,500 on the weekend of August 19th and August 20th.

“The sales tax holiday is a very important boost for small businesses throughout Massachusetts.  Many small business owners and families count on this holiday for much needed relief from the sales tax,” Ventura stated.

ATTLEBORO, MA – A recent ruling by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court unanimously found that, “Massachusetts law provides no authority for Massachusetts court officers to arrest and hold an individual solely on the basis of a Federal civil immigration detainer beyond the time that individual would otherwise be entitled to release from custody.”
